Susan Dee’s Journal \u2013 Day 1:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I barely slept last night. The constant buzzing in my head was louder than my alarm clock, but I somehow managed to drag myself out of bed and put on my \u201centhusiastic intern\u201d face. It\u2019s a strange feeling\u2014walking into Blind Corp for the first time. Everything is clean, sterile, and smells faintly of metal and something else I can\u2019t place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was shown to my desk, where a pile of files waited for me\u2014like a mountain I\u2019d have to scale before I could even think about \u201ccontributing\u201d in the way they expected. It feels like being thrown into the deep end without even a floatie. I\u2019ve spent my first few hours trying to read through reports I can barely understand, all while pretending to be competent. I think I fooled them, but I can\u2019t shake the feeling that someone\u2019s watching me, waiting to see if I\u2019ll sink or swim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve heard things. Some of the other interns whisper about how \u201cthings aren\u2019t what they seem\u201d around here. I don\u2019t know what that means yet, but if I have to deal with all the secrets and silence I felt in those hallways today, I\u2019ll either crack or become numb. I\u2019ll play it safe for now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The strangest thing? No one has really looked me in the eye. It\u2019s like I\u2019m invisible\u2014until someone needs something. That\u2019s how Blind Corp works, right? You give up a part of yourself to be part of something bigger. A cog in a very, very well-oiled machine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But I am<\/em> here for a reason. I need to remember that. Keep my head down. Gather what I can. Learn what they\u2019re hiding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If there\u2019s one thing I know for sure, it\u2019s that this place isn\u2019t just a job. It’s… a lot more than that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
